Matthew Kaufmann is from McAllen, Texas. He played football for the Army football team while studying at West Point, where he graduated in 2017. His first assignment was serving as a Rifle/Scout Platoon Leader in 3/2CR in Vilseck, Germany, where he deployed as a member of NATO’s battle group in Eastern Poland in 2020.

Following his assignment with 3/2CR, CPT Kaufmann transitioned into a Signal Officer role and deployed again as a Battalion S6 with the 7-17th Air Cavalry Squadron to Poland in early 2022. Most recently, CPT Kaufmann served as the Company Commander for Charlie Company, 615th Aviation Support Battalion, based out of Fort Cavazos, Texas.

Matthew Kaufmann is married to Melissa and has three children: Murphy, Monroe, and Milo.
