Thomas Muldowney

Lieutenant Thomas Muldowney graduated and commissioned from the Virginia Military Institute in 2021 with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business. After completing initial training in the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program, he reported to the USS MONTANA, a fast-attack submarine, homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. His division officer billets included serving as the Main Propulsion Assistant, Operational Safety Officer, and Assistant Weapons Officer.

He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Dive School and also served as the Diving Supervisor for MONTANA’s SCUBA Diving Division. During his junior officer tour, LT Muldowney oversaw the completion of MONTANA’s Post Shakedown Availability, a change of homeport to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, and preparations for her maiden deployment.

He reported to NROTC Unit, University of Notre Dame in October 2025 and serves as the Second Class Midshipman Advisor and Nuclear Programs Officer, amongst other collateral duties.
