Undergraduate Military Dependent and ROTC Student, Computer Science Major and Business Economics Minor – Class of 2023

As the son of a U.S. Marine, Chris spent his childhood moving around the country, and always had an interest in the military and serving his country. As he grew older, his interest in serving his country only grew and he set his sights on participating in ROTC in college. He was drawn to Notre Dame in part due to his older sister’s experience here, and came to decide that it was the place for him. Additionally, he earned a Navy ROTC scholarship and was ready to begin his journey at the greatest university in the country.

Once at Notre Dame, Chris’s knack for following in the footsteps of his family members only continued. He saw the great experience that his sister had volunteering with Notre Dame’s Office of Military and Veterans Affairs and greatly wanted to do something similar. Luckily for him, there were new openings for student internships at the OMVA and he was selected to fill one of the roles. On top of that, he made a big choice to follow in the footsteps of his father. While Chris joined NROTC as a Navy Option with a future as a Naval Officer, after much consideration, he decided to push himself to apply to transfer to being a Marine Option. Due to his hard work and dedication, he was selected for the switch and granted a Marine Option scholarship. Upon graduation, he will now pursue a career as a Marine Corps Officer.

Besides his military-associated pursuits, Chris is involved with several other things on campus. He has been a teaching assistant for the Department of Computer Science, participated in the Computer Science for Good Club, served as a tutor for student athletes, and been greatly involved with his dorm, Knott Hall.
